Let Go of My Hand

Let go of My Hand was commissioned by Trinity College Perth under the crisp direction of long serving music teacher Rob Braham.

For A Capella male choir, the piece is written in an exciting pop/jazz/funk style, featuring optional beat boxing, cajun or percussion (djembe and hand drums). With a strong message well suited to teenage boys; the coming of age, the adventure of life, the journey we must all take on our own, ‘Let go of My Hand’ was a big hit with the students and community.

Let go of my hand, set me free
It’s my time and I must go
I’ll carry your flame and light the way
And in that light I will remain

Let go of my hand and set me free
Let me realize the dreams I see
I’ve caught a glimpse of worlds to seek
And I am eager to begin
Let go of my hand and set me free

Let go of my hand, I’ll take the reigns
I will show the way to paths unknown
I’ll cross ravines, travel plains
Adventures old made new again
Let go of my hand, I’ll take the reigns

Let go of my hand, I’ll find the strength
I can be the guide who takes next step
In these hands I see yours
They give me courage to explore
Let go of my hand, I’ll find the strength

Climb the mountain, face the dawn
Run the gauntlet to the storm
Stand your ground against the crowd
Sing it strong and proud out loud

Let go of my hand and set me free
Let me realize the dreams I see
I’ll carry your flame and light the way
And in that light I will remain
Let go of my hand and set me free
