Working on Shackleton was quite a process. First we try, try, tried to memorized the piece, bit by bit. Once I had learned it, I couldn’t get it out of my head! I liked that the song’s message was so clear and moving. It made it easy to sing even thought there was such a difficult message to convey

It really moved me. I love ballads to begin with, and this is one of my new favourites. I really enjoyed it.

I was extremely moved by the fact it told a specific story

I found the lyrics powerful and descriptive, and it sounded beautiful with the string quartet. I found the song very moving

The process of learning Shackleton was very easy for me, but understanding was a different thing. At first, I was like “okay, people were trapped in this really cold place and got back home. So what, I get stuck in Boston but find my way home.” Then I realized that Antarctica is freezing cold and getting back home is hard. How could they even do it? I know the first day I would die. Then after unravelling a little more I found out that when they got home they were at war, and some probably got drafted. My conclusion? Learning and understanding are two different matters.
